This year, we proudly welcome 35 passionate youth leaders from 18 Colombo Plan member countries who have gathered to collaborate, learn, and lead change across the region.Â
Following the official opening of the Asia-Pacific Youth Forum 2025, our youth delegates visited the renowned Opium Hall, established under the gracious patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother of the King Rama IV of Thailand.Â
This immersive experience offered participants a powerful journey through the history of opium — tracing its origins, global trade routes, and the lasting impact it has had on societies around the world. The exhibit also highlighted the opium wars that significantly influenced international relations.Â
The participants took part in a self-guided educational tour and engaging group activities, enriching their understanding of the challenges surrounding drug issues, both past and present.
The Welcome Dinner for the Colombo Plan Asia-Pacific Youth Forum 2025, graciously hosted by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), was a night to remember!Â
The evening began with heartfelt opening remarks by Mrs. Jeeraphan Kanjanapradit, Director of the Human Resource Development Institute on Drug Control. Guests were then treated to a delicious spread of authentic Northern Thai(Lanna) cuisine, offering a true taste of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage. Â
Traditional Thai cultural performances, including graceful classical dances, brought color and rhythm to the night. Adding to the joyous atmosphere, our participants joined in the fun—singing, dancing, and sharing laughter, creating unforgettable memories and deepening the spirit of friendship.Â
The second day of the Asia-Pacific Youth Forum 2025 focused on deepening participants’ understanding of the science behind prevention, treatment, and recovery in the context of drug demand reduction (DDR).Â
Youth leaders and young preventive education professionals were actively engaged in thought-provoking sessions that highlighted their vital role in mobilizing peers and fostering change within their communities through their positive attitudes and messages. Their passion and participation underscored a shared commitment to building a healthier, drug-free future.Â
