Weekly Round-Up: Recent Engagements of H.E. Dr. Benjamin Reyes, the Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan (11th -13th December 2024)

H.E. Dr Reyes paid a courtesy visit to Consul Vanessa Bago Llona, Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippines, and her team. Discussions focused on the upcoming biodiversity and environmental project, which is slated for implementation in the third quarter of 2025.

The Secretary-General paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Leo Tito L. Ausan Jr. former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Bangladesh, Maldives, and Sri Lanka

H.E. Dr. Reyes met with officials of the U.S. Embassy in Manila to provide an update to the partners of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs on various initiatives of The Colombo Plan. The meeting was attended by Mr Luke Bruns, Deputy Director of INL at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, alongside Ms Jona Santos, Program Management Specialist. During the visit, the donor partners were briefed on potential collaborative activities aligned with the priorities of the Drug Advisory Programme in the region. The Colombo Plan extends gratitude to the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) for their hospitality and accommodation for hosting the meeting.

12 December

The Secretary-General visited the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños, Laguna, to engage in discussions regarding the upcoming International Conference, which will be supported by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, Clarissa Arida, Director, Programmes Department, and her team of experts, presented key flagship initiatives and proposed project sites for consideration. The conference is tentatively scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.
