Weekly Round-Up: Recent Engagements of H.E. Dr. Benjamin Reyes, the Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan (22nd - 25th October 2024)

H.E. Dr Reyes attended a farewell reception was held at the residence of H.E. Mizukoshi Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, and his wife, Madam Mizukoshi Mariko. The Secretary-General expressed gratitude for Japan’s active participation in events and significant contributions made to the initiatives of The Colombo Plan.

22nd October

Dr Suresh Kumar Dhameja, the newly appointed Director-General of The Colombo Plan Staff College in Manila, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr Reyes at the Secretariat in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Hailing from India, Dr Dhameja assumed the post in September. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and collaboration within The Colombo Plan framework.

24th October

Mr Emmanuel Gunaratnam, Business Liaison from the Consulate of Iceland, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr Reyes at The Colombo Plan Secretariat to discuss mutual concerns regarding environmental and climate change initiatives.

Mr. Norbu Wangchuk, the newly appointed Director-General of the South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP), paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary-General at The Colombo Plan Secretariat in Colombo. The meeting focused on mutual concerns and potential areas of collaboration. SACEP comprises eight countries that are also members of The Colombo Plan.

24th October

H.E. Dr Reyes attended a meeting with the management and IT personnel of Bank of Ceylon to discuss key strategies and system enhancements to ensure the efficient implementation of The Colombo Plan’s initiatives globally.
