Launching of hybrid ToT programmes for participants from the African continent

The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme (CPDAP) launched three hybrid Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes for participants from the African continent on 7th October 2024.

The three regional ToT sessions focus on:

  • Women’s Intervention for Substance Exposure: Comprehensive Care for Substance Use Disorder (WISE);
  • Practitioners Specialty Track 1: Family-Based Prevention (UPC-P Family); and
  • Practitioners Specialty Track 4: Environment-Based Prevention (UPC-P Environment).


These programmes consist of both virtual and in-person components. The virtual training sessions will be conducted twice a week from 7th to 31st October 2024, followed by in-person sessions from 4th to 9th November 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya.

A total of 64 participants from Botswana, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Seychelles, Tanzania, Togo, and Tunisia are attending the three hybrid trainings. In Nairobi, they will be joined by 26 other participants for a ToT on Adolescent Treatment, introduced for the first time in Africa.

Post-training, all participants are expected to implement and disseminate the knowledge using local in-country resources.
