KENYA : TRAINING OF 27 KENYAN NATIONAL TRAINERS ON UPC PRACTITIONER SERIES SCHOOL TRACK

The Colombo Plan conducted the first phase of training of trainers for Kenyan professionals drawn from the Ministry of Education and Civil Society Organizations implementing programmes in the education sector.

This training segment covered 3 courses (1-3) in the School-based Prevention Interventions and Policies and was the first specialty training to be conducted for national trainers in Kenya by Colombo Plan. It was delivered by Elizabeth Njani (Kenya) and Susan Maua (Kenya), and co-funded by the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Kenya.

This programme aims to create a cadre of multidisciplinary prevention professionals equipped with knowledge on current evidence based practices in prevention for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) in the school setting. This team would subsequently serve as National Trainers and implementers for school based prevention in Kenya.
