ToT on the School-based Prevention Specialty Track in the Republic of Seychelles

The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme (CPDAP) launched a Training of Trainers (ToT) on its School-based Prevention Specialty Track for Substance Use Practitioners in the Republic of Seychelles on 21 September 2024. The training is being conducted in two sessions: the first from 21–24 September, followed by the second session from 14–22 October. A total of 18 participants, representing educators, school counsellors, school health nurses, programme managers, and administrators, are taking part.

The School-based Prevention Track introduces the science behind school-based prevention interventions and policies. It covers methods for improving school climate, strengthening policies, and implementing classroom prevention interventions.

The first session was facilitated by Master Trainer Yvana Thérésine, with the assistance of Diane Mussard. It was co-funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State and the Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Seychelles.
