Regional Training of Trainers (TOT) – Africa

The Regional Training of Trainers (ToT) in Africa was organised by The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme with funding support from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement and hosted by the National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA). This gathering brought together participants from 13 African countries, including Botswana, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Lesotho, Liberia, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Seychelles, Tanzania, Togo and Tunisia, to advance efforts in drug demand reduction.

Dr Anthony Omerikwa, CEO of National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) expressed gratitude to The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme for spearheading training initiatives aimed at strengthening Africa’s capacity in drug demand reduction and thereby paving the way for a healthier and stronger continent.

Ms. Maureen (Mo) Mimnaugh, Country Director of INL Kenya, commended the efforts of all stakeholders in pursuing a shared goal and emphasized the importance of demonstrating the impact of these activities. She highlighted the need to enhance collaboration and align efforts more maximize collective effectiveness.

Mr George Murimi, Programme Manager for Africa, presented DAP’s contribution to advancing the professionalisation of drug demand reduction in the African region, providing an overview of the nature of work undertaken by the DAP.
