𝟮4th 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿The Secretary-General participated in the plenary sessions of 38th IDEC alongside Anne Milgram, DEA Administrator and George S. Papadopoulos, DEA Principal Deputy Administrator. On the same day, he engaged in a training session on the “Forensic Science Initiative: The Changes to Forensic Science Presented by Novel Psychoactive Substances.” During this session, Scot Oulton, DEA Assistant Administrator addressed concerns pertaining to laboratory management.
𝟮5th 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿H.E. Dr Reyes attended the plenary session of the 38th IDEC where Mr Thom Browne, CEO of The Colombo Plan presented on “Geospatial Analysis of Seized Drug Samples Contributing to Public Health Crises Worldwide”. On the same day, the Secretary-General also participated in a training session on “The Changes to Forensic Science Presented by Novel Psychoactive Substances”, where Anne Milgram, DEA Administrator shared her insights on the subject.
𝟮6th 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿Concluding the three-day conference, H.E. Dr Reyes participated in the final day of the forensic capacity building activities during which new and emerging technological options were presented to the 23 scientists in attendance. The Secretary-General expresses gratitude to the DEA Special Testing & Research Laboratory, and all participants for the successful conclusion of IDEC.

The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme and the Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA of the The United States Department of Justice co-hosted a three-day forensic science training workshop for 23 scientists from 15 countries. The workshop took place during the 38th International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC XXXVIII) in Athens, #Greece from 24 to 26 September 2024.
