Drug Advisory Programme (DAP) working in collaboration with Ministry of Narcotics Control (MNC), Govt. of Pakistan and Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), US department of State, has launched virtual training on Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) for Pakistani substance use treatment practitioners on March 1, 2021. Opening ceremony was attended by Mr Sikandar Jalal, Senior Joint Secretary, MNC, Pakistan, 86 trainees from across Pakistan, 29 national trainers involved in this training and DAP officials. Trainees are attending the sessions in five groups each facilitated by two trainers for each session. Each group of trainees is expected to attend 64 sessions of two hours each to cover entire basic level of UTC which is comprised of eight courses. The training will continue until June 5, 2021, followed by International Certified Addiction Professional (ICAP) examination organized by the Global Center for Certification and Credentialing (GCCC) in two major cities of Pakistan.
