Weekly Round-Up: Recent Engagements of H.E. Dr. Benjamin Reyes, the Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan (11th - 19th November 2024)

H.E. Dr Reyes paid a courtesy visit to Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy and Chairman of the Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs in Sri Lanka, at the Sri Lanka Navy headquarters. The Secretary-General discussed advocacy and capacity-building initiatives and also presented The Colombo Plan's support of the “All Island Art and Animation Video Competition 2024”.

11 November

The Secretary-General held a productive meeting with Dr Lin Ta from the Taipei District Prosecution Office, Department of Justice, and Andy Malanga, from the DEA Drug Education Foundation. Discussions focused on potential collaborative initiatives with The Drug Advisory Programme of The Colombo Plan and emphasized continued engagement with the Government of Taiwan in future.

14 November

H.E. Dr Reyes attended the 54th National Day of Oman, hosted by H.E. Ahmed Ali Saeed Al Rashdi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Sri Lanka. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the people of Oman on the occasion of their 54th National Day.

18 November

The Secretary-General attended a meeting on Gender Affairs with officials from the Global South Coalition for Dignified Menstruation.

19 November

Additionally, H.E. Dr Reyes paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr Andalib Elias, the newly appointed High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka. During this visit, the Secretary-General provided the High Commissioner with an update on current initiatives of The Colombo Plan in collaboration with the Government of Bangladesh and expressed gratitude for the continued support extended by Bangladesh to The Colombo Plan.
