The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Programme in partnership with the Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation (DSAPTR) of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Seychelles, conducted a Training of Trainers for 18 national trainers in Seychelles on the ‘Introduction to the Universal Prevention Curriculum Series for Practitioners (UPC Core)’ from 16-20 September in Mahé, Seychelles. Training participants represented educators, school counsellors, programme managers, and administrators.
The UPC Core serves as the introduction to the Universal Prevention Curriculum for Substance Use-Practitioners Series (UPC-P) and is composed of 10 modules representing different aspects of prevention science and its application to practice. It is designed to give participants a foundation in the knowledge and skills needed to undertake evidence-based prevention programming at the community level.
The training was facilitated by Master Trainer Yvana Thérésine, assisted by Diane Mussard and Jennifa Belmont. It was co-funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), U.S. Department of State, and the Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Seychelles.
