Weekly Round-Up: Recent Engagements of H.E. Dr. Benjamin Reyes, the Secretary-General of The Colombo Plan (05th - 08th November 2024)

H.E. Dr Reyes engaged in a meeting with Dr Indika Wanninayake, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Dangerous Drugs and Control Board of Sri Lanka, and his laboratory staff. This meeting was in preparation for the Forensic Lab training scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 in Colombo, funded by the U.S. State Department.

5th November

Mr Yamada Tetsuya, Chief Representative of JICA in Sri Lanka, extended a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr Reyes at The Colombo Plan Secretariat in Colombo, to address various concerns.

6th November

The Secretary-General received a courtesy visit from Ms Marcy Brown, Director, South Asia Bureau of INL, U.S. State Department based in Nepal and Mr Dan Reback of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo. Discussions included training activities for countries in the region.

7th November

Mr Arthit Prasartkul, Minister Counsellor, and Ms Prangtip Kongridhisuksakorn, Counsellor of the Embassy of Thailand to Sri Lanka, extended a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr Reyes at the Secretariat, Colombo to discuss the final Memorandum of Agreement for the eventual operations of The Colombo Plan office in Thailand.

7th November

The Secretary-General held a productive meeting with the Philippines Dangerous Drugs Board Officials, headed by Undersecretary Earl Saavedra, to discuss the priorities of the Global Synthetic Drug Coalition of the U.S. State Department and collaborative efforts with The Colombo Plan.
